Today is National Voter Registration Day! Are you registered to vote? Do you know how to register to vote? Well, today is your day to find out, especially before the November elections.

Established in 2012, National Voter Registration Day is an effort to get as many people as possible registered to vote before upcoming elections. There are several businesses that have pledged to help with the effort, like Footlocker who will have voter registration kiosks at their over 2,000 locations according to The Hill.

Facebook and Instagram have registered 2.5 million people which is over halfway to their goal of 4 million according to USA Today. Twitter is joining in today too, by having a voter registration prompt at the top of your timeline, as well as notifications.

If you want to make sure you're prepared in November, here are the two simple steps you need to take.

Find Out If You're Registered To Vote

The first thing you need to do is find out if you're registered. If you're not registered to vote, you won't be able to head to the polls in November. You can check your registration status at the Texas Secretary of State website. There you can find out information on:

  • Voter registration status
  • Poll location
  • Early voting locations
  • Registration information
  • Key Election Dates

If you check your information and you are not registered, you can then register to vote today by visiting the National Voter Registration Day website. There you can find out:

  • Voter registration deadlines by state
  • Voting times and locations
  • Whether or not you're eligible to register
