A woman called police after a naked man chased her car early in the morning on Tuesday. The woman was driving near UTEP about 3:30 early Tuesday morning when she called 911 to report a naked man that was chasing her vehicle. The woman said she was driving on Sun Bowl Drive heading towards Mesa Street, just north of the Sunbowl Stadium. UTEP police responded to the call and found the naked man who, according to a released statement, was combative with officers. The man was then tasered so officers could subdue him before he was taken into custody. The responding officers called for medical assistance after he was tasered and EMS responded to the scene. The man was found to be unresponsive by the medical team and he was rushed to the University Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. The identity of the man has not been released and the Texas Department of Public Safety along with the Texas Rangers will be investigating the incident. No additional information has been released at this time.

It's sad to see that this man perished in this manner when he clearly needed help. This is a situation when instead of calling the police, a person in this mindstate may be better getting some mental health professionals to assist instead. The Emergence Health Network has a Behavioral Health Crisis Hotline you can call at (915) 779-1800. For more information on this incident and for updates in the future, visit the KVIA website.
