Uncle Sam has been warning New Mexico for months to get its act together and tighten standards for receiving a driver's license. The Land of Enchantment won't do it! It WANTS illegal immigrants to have the same state-issued IDs everyone else does. So the feds say beginning next month New Mexicans can't use their licenses as ID to fly from any American airport, they must have a United States passport! Stupid, right?
