Yup, just 36 years ago the franchise was sold for $80 million. Dak Prescott is going to make almost half of that in one season under the franchise tag. Now the franchise is worth north of $5 billion. On last year's Forbes list of most valuable franchises, the Dallas Cowboys came in at number 1. You can see that whole list by CLICKING HERE.

Bum Bright didn't own the Cowboys for very long. He sold the franchise just 5 years later to Jerry Jones. Although the price had already gone up pretty significantly as Jones paid $140 million. But over the course of 30 years, Jones has done a pretty damn good job making the Cowboys winners in regards to value of franchise. Of course, winners on the field over the past 25 years is another story.

Oh, and someone else had their name pop up when it came to the Cowboys back in 1984. Here is what that person said:

I feel sorry for the poor guy who is going to buy the Dallas Cowboys. It's a no-win situation for him, because if he wins, well, so what, they've won through the years, and if he loses, which seems likely because they're having troubles, he'll be known to the world as a loser.
