A New Film Will Tell The Story Of Beloved Texan Mattress Mack

Jim “Mattress Mack” McIngvale is an instantly recognizable face in the Greater Houston area because of his energetic, rapid-fire sales pitches. He's basically a Texas celebrity at this point! And now, he'll be an even bigger celebrity because Hollywood if officially filming a movie on his life.

Mattress Mack is known for his love of Houston sports and high stakes betting. But,  in recent years he’s become even more well-known for opening his Gallery Furniture stores to people affected by disasters.

Here’s What We Know About the Mattress Mack Movie

The upcoming feature film Mattress Mack is officially in production this month- and yes, it’s being filmed in Texas, because where else would you even start? The cast lineup is actually stacked:

• Billy Magnussen (Lilo & Stitch) as Mack
• Dianna Agron (The Chosen One)
• Darby Lee-Stack (The Holdovers)
• Rob Corddry (The Audacity)

Directed and written by Shane Andries, the movie jumps between the early 1980s and 2000s, following Mack’s rise from ambitious Houston business owner to full-blown Texas icon.

The film covers Mack’s early days building Gallery Furniture with his wife Linda, the rollercoaster of running a family business, and even their daughter’s battle with OCD- something he’s spoken about openly over the years.

But don’t worry, this movie isn’t just business drama, we’re getting the real stories like Mack opening his stores as shelters during hurricanes. Feeding thousands during natural disasters. Donating mattresses when people lost everything. Showing up for Houston like it’s his full-time job

Just this summer, Mack donated 500 mattresses to survivors of the Texas Hill Country floods. And that’s just one example from like, a hundred.

Magnussen, who’s starring as Mack, said it best:
