On Sunday, Richard Shear, 28, took off on his moped, after attempting to light his house on fire and threatening his mother and girlfriend with a sledgehammer.

Sources tell FOX 17 that the suspect’s mother called police after he threatened her with the weapons. His girlfriend said Shear attempted to burn the house down by pouring gasoline on yard, then throwing a candle.

Police chased Shear onto the roadways of North Shore, Michigan,  until Shear returned back home, where he was arrested. People close to Shear said he was been suffering from PTSD, alcohol abuse and other deep issues. His bond has been set at $100,000.
