According to KVIA, crews responded to a fire at Los Rancheritos restaurant on the 8900 block of Dyer early this morning before 7 A.M.

KVIA reports that it is unclear what may have caused the fire but the Fire Department said the restaurant is a total loss. The Fire Department told KVIA that employees were getting ready to open the restaurant when the fire began, luckily they evacuated in time and no one was seriously hurt.

Sadly, for those of us who loved the restaurant, we can only hope that Los Rancheritos will recover from this and open up again someday! Many foodies in the Foodies of El Paso TX & Surrounding Areas Facebook group expressed their sadness:

How devastating. Small business opened not to long ago.

It was a fairly new establishment, and I had only gone to it just a few weeks ago for the first time. The food was delicious! I had the flautas and they were great! Unfortunately I didn't get a picture of them, but I also got the caldo de res and that was amazing, I didn't even mind that it was nearly 100 degrees outside!

As someone who grew up in the Northeast, small restaurants like one are my favorite kind. A hidden gem with some amazing food, and their horchata was the bomb! It saddens me to see that the fire caused so much damage.

From this foodie, and all foodies in El Paso, our thoughts go out to the owners. Hopefully they will be able to overcome this tragedy and come back!
