Las Cruces Woman Shoplifts, Runs and Leaves Child [PHOTO]

Worst Mother of the Year Nominee: Jeanise P. Morales Martinez

This woman went into the Lowe's Fiesta Foods in Las Cruces on Wednesday with a man, Daniel Isaac Gutierrez, and put around $160 worth of groceries in their cart. This is usually when you move to the cashier to check out, but ain't nobody got time for that! Or at least they didn't and proceeded to walk out of the store without paying for their groceries.

When they were confronted by the store employees, they both ran off to a car, LEAVING A 4 YR OLD IN THE SHOPPING CART! It was later found that the little girl was Jeanise's daughter. When the vehicle started moving to leave the parking lot, Jeanise jumped out of the moving car, grabbed the girl and tried to walk away. By that time the police had arrived and she was arrested for one count of negligent child abuse. Gutierrez was arrested for a warrant from the probation office, shoplifting and carrying a deadly weapon. What a winning combination these two.

Jeanise's daughter was turned to the custody of the Children, Youth and Families Department. At this point, even I think I would be better mother than her. At least I know to just leave my kid in the car with the engine running if I'm going to be shoplifting.
