Lacuna Coil’s Cristina Scabbia Talks Social Networking, ‘Dark Legacy’ Tour

Lacuna Coil are big into Social Networking, but it’s not all about getting publicity. As frontwoman Cristina Scabbia explains, the Italian heavy metal group love connecting with fans over Facebook and Twitter, and it enables them to take listeners inside the Lacuna Coil camp and show fans what they’d likely never see onstage.

“It’s not that I have a lot of fun doing it, but I think that it’s cool for whoever doesn’t know that much about the backstage and about what’s going on with the band,” Scabbia told Femme Metal Webzine. “I think it’s cool to have a direct update from the band because sometimes the official websites are more like portals that can take you to different sites, but they’re never a close connection to the fans. And in this case, Facebook is really cool because you can get direct feedback from the fans and you can post updates and write when something happens and I think that’s cool.”

Lacuna Coil recently wrapped the 2012 Gigantour, serving as support for Megadeth and Motorhead, with Volbeat also on the bill. Now, the focus is on the band’s ‘Dark Legacy’ headlining tour, and Scabbia says being the final act changes the entire dynamic of the show and the toll it takes on your body.

“Your mindset just changes, because, of course, you have to play every night a longer set so it’s more tiring for your body, for your voice, so you have to be extra careful about your body, your voice, your fingers, if you play guitar or your energy if you’re a drummer,” she said. “So definitely we’re going to be able to take care of ourselves and our bodies during that tour because I know we’re going to push the energy to the limit every night. As I said, even if you tried to take it easy once you’re up there, it’s impossible. It’s just impossible. We give everything we have onstage.”
