La Nube Goes Full Nickelodeon for Worldwide Day of Play
If you grew up watching Nickelodeon, you probably remember the absolute betrayal of turning on the TV one day and finding... nothing.
No SpongeBob. No Rugrats. Nickelodeon basically said, "We're not entertaining you today. Go outside and play."
It was all part of Nickelodeon's Worldwide Day of Play, and now a new generation of El Paso kids gets to experience the fun because the iconic event is coming to La Nube!
Nickelodeon Worldwide Day of Play Is Coming to La Nube
La Nube is teaming up with Nickelodeon and the Association of Children's Museums for Worldwide Day of Play, turning Main Street in Downtown El Paso into a huge block party for kids and families.
The celebration will include character meet-and-greets with PAW Patrol, SpongeBob SquarePants and more, along with hands-on STEAM activities, local food trucks and community booths.
Best of all, everything happening outside on Main Street is completely FREE for the community.
Families who want to head inside La Nube can keep the fun going with a general admission ticket. La Nube will be using timed entry for the day, so families can choose an arrival time and then stay and explore for the rest of the day. A $5 WIC/SNAP admission option will also be available for purchase in person.
Yes You Can Get Nickelodeon Slimed in El Paso
Now for the part that may have every millennial parent just a little jealous of their kid: you can get slimed!
Getting covered in that famous green Nickelodeon slime was basically the childhood dream if you grew up watching shows like Double Dare and Figure It Out. At La Nube's Worldwide Day of Play celebration, kids will actually have the chance to safely experience a little Nickelodeon slime for themselves.
Between that, meeting SpongeBob and spending the day playing instead of staring at a screen, this feels like Nickelodeon bringing one of our childhood traditions back for a whole new generation.
A New Generation of El Paso Kids Gets a Day to Play
For El Paso millennials, there's another layer of nostalgia here.
A lot of us grew up with Insights Science Museum as the place where you could run around, touch things, experiment and learn without really realizing you were learning. La Nube has become a new generation's place to discover that same kind of hands-on fun.
Now they get Nickelodeon's Worldwide Day of Play, too.
And while I may no longer be the kid being told by Nickelodeon to turn off the TV and go outside, I have to admit I'm a little jealous that this generation gets La Nube, SpongeBob and the chance to get slimed.
