Former president Trump will be making a return to the Lone Star state late this month, to accompany Governor Abbott to better examine the "crisis at the border".  This will be Trump's first visit back to the border after his visit on January 12th, where he visited a portion of the newly-constructed wall in Alamo, TX.

When he makes that fateful trip, El Paso County Judge Ricardo Samaniego hopes that Trump brings a check for El Paso. If anyone has forgotten, he still owes the city over $560,000. This stems from Trump's visit to El Paso in February of 2019 for his rally at the El Paso County Coliseum, which I actually attended, you can read what I thought about that here.

The city initially charged the campaign $470,417 for the services, that included security, and transportation. But after a collection fee was added to the bill, the total became $560,000. The campaign was charged $5,000 to use the Coliseum and made to pay up front. Check out the bill below for the services Trump's campaign still owes:

  • Department of Aviation cost, $6,286.57
  • Fire Department cost, $60,630.84
  • Health Department cost, $528
  • Streets and Maintenance Department cost, $6,452
  • Sun Metro costs, $15,577.52
  • Police Department costs, $380,942.12

Total: $470,417.05.

City Rep. Alexsandra Annello said back in 2019:

"It shows a lack of concern for the community and the tax paying voters of El Paso. President Trump has in many ways, over the last year, put a financial burden on this community and has yet to show us the respect we deserve. It is clear that our borderland is not a priority of the president."

Trump made a second visit later that year in August to visit victims of the Walmart shooting, none of them wanted to meet with him. Maybe the shade of it all made him salty and now he won't pay up. This was your daily reminder that Trump still owes EP money.
