Cocaine Floods Texas Beach After High-Seas Drug Bust
Have you ever seen snow on a Texas beach? I think it's safe to say that this was not left behind by the Easter bunny!
Instead of seashells, surf, and sunscreen, beachgoers stumbled upon something a little more… powdery. Bundles of cocaine started washing up along the shoreline of Jamaica Beach, Texas following a recent drug raid at sea- and while authorities were quick to respond, the real action unfolded online.
Over on the local police department’s Facebook page, residents wasted no time turning a federal drug incident into the unofficial comedy event of the week. Between the memes, mock business pitches, and one particularly bold comment involving “their time to shine,” the town’s sense of humor proved as uncontainable as the incoming tide.
One of the main questions is how did all this cocaine end up on the beach? Authorities say the drugs washed up ashore following a reported offshore ship raid. Local and Galveston police discovered the drugs on the Gulf Coast beach, and they believe the ship's crew dumped the cocaine overboard during the raid, leading to the packages drifting to shore. Photos show bricks of cocaine, some labeled "7-P," entangled in seaweed.
"Please call Jamaica Beach police" is the part that set off people in the comments.
At the end of the day, it looks like the Facebook comment section became the unlikely star of a bizarre beach day. While law enforcement continues to investigate drug drop, one thing is crystal clear: Texans aren’t just quick to spot suspicious packages—they're even quicker with a punchline. And if you ever find yourself tempted to pick up mysterious bundles from the sand, remember: it’s probably best to leave it to the pros.
