The Backrooms And Beyond: Exploring Creepy Urban Exploration Trends With Kane Pixels
By now, most internet denizens and youtube dwellers galore know all about the viral sensation that is The Backrooms, but did you know that the same creator of the Backrooms also made ANOTHER creepy, viral video that took place in a now demolished abandoned mall in Dallas, TX?
Abandoned malls themselves are already pretty creepy, unless youre the kind of person that loves liminal spaces, or empty places that just go on forever with no one around. Spaces like that have actually become a viral sensation on the internet the last couple of years and for even longer than that, urban explorers on youtube have had plenty of viral success exploring abandoned buildings filled with squatters that can sometimes get a lil violent.
The Valley View Mall in Dallas, Texas is no different. Valley View Mall had been abandoned for a while and people began exploring it for page views before it was finally destroyed, but the Valley View Mall got one last breath of life before it was demolished thanks to the creator of 'The Backrooms,' Kane Pixels.
Viral video creator and film maker, Kane Pixels, created another series of short films that used Valley Views desolate and creepy hallways as its set. This series, equally as mysterious and creepy as his first viral video series, blew up!
The Oldest View is a video series that follows an Urban Explorer with a YouTube channel into a terrifying tunnel that eventually leads him to an abandoned mall, Valley View. Later, the explorer runs into what has easily become the most unsettling part of the series, The Rolling Giant. A pretty creepy character that hunts down the explorer in the final video of the series. Fortunately for us, its just a fun but very scary video. You can check out the series on YouTube or just watch this excellent video made about the creation of The Oldest View, which also gives some pretty interesting history about Valley View Mall before they shut down and were demolished.
