EP Eats: Pepe’s Tamales Opens in West El Paso, Cheesecake Outlet Downtown
Pepe's Tamales has set up a location on the west side just in time for the upcoming tamal season.
Their presence is a welcome sight for this guy as there aren’t a whole lot of places one can get a dozen tamales, barbacoa, and menudo in one stop on this part of the west side.
On Tamal, Two Tamal, Three Tamal, More
Considered one of the top places in El Paso to get tamales by many El Pasoans craving the stuffed masa treat, Pepe’s recently made Yelp’s all-time list of the “Top 25 Tamale Spots in Texas.” It was the only local restaurant on foodie brigade’s list.
Pepe's Tamales is now open on N. Mesa near Sun Bowl Drive at 4024 N. Mesa in the Centro El Rincon shopping strip.
Say Cheese...Cake
It’ not the Cheesecake Factory that just about everyone in El Paso has been wishing for for years, but it’s a cheesecake factory, and if you’re craving cheesecake, it’s a more than adequate option.
Just Cheesecake Outlet, which is really a misnomer as they carry more than just cheesecake, just opened in the Eat Up Market food hall on the corner of Arizona and Kansas behind the EPISD Administrative Office building.
The “Cheesecake Venue” offers numerous types of cheesecakes including Original New York Style, strawberry, and chocolate. It’s sold by the slice ($7-$8) or the cheesecake ($50-$55).
But Just Cheesecake is an inaccurate name for the bakery as they also offer cake pops, macarons, brownies, and tiramisu as well as cold and hot drinks.
