BMW Just Recalled 720K Cars—Is Your Ride One of Them?

Heads up Texas BMW owners, your vehicle could be at risk of catching on fire! BMW just dropped a major recall for nearly 721,000 cars in North America, and yep, your ride might be on the list. 

What’s the recall for?

Turns out, an electric water pump installation could short-circuit, thanks to a poorly sealed electrical connector. I have no idea what all that means but after doing some deep diving and found this explanation:

Imagine this: blowby-liquid from the crankcase ventilation system drips down, sneaks into the connector, and boom—you're at risk for a “thermal event” (a.k.a. potential fire hazard). Yikes!

Which BMW Models are at Risk?

The recall covers a bunch of models, including the 328i, X3, X5, and more from years 2012-2018. If you own one of these models BMW is offering free repairs, including replacing the pump, fixing the connector, and throwing in a protective shield for good measure.
