The last thing any car owner wants is a mandatory safety recall on their vehicle. These usually mean that something is wrong with the car that requires immediate attention and will impact their day-to-day driving.

The Recall

Certain Toyota vehicles are fitted with Takata airbags, which are full of Ammonium Nitrate, the chemical that allows the bags to inflate. This chemical, however, deteriorates over time when exposed to heat and humidity which can cause the airbags to not function properly.

This issue is a massive problem for drivers as airbags are usually the last line of defense in a wreck to prevent brain and body injuries. The mechanism may explode as well, shooting shrapnel through the car which can cause serious injury or death.

Toyota has also issued a warning on certain vehicles' airbags not deploying at all in the front seats, which brings the same problem as before.
