A new feature film will begin shooting just outside of Las Cruces.

Filmmaker Rod McCall will begin shooting a new movie in September, starring Golden Globe-winner Cybill Shepherd and Emmy Award-winner James Brolin. According to the Las Cruces Sun News, McCall said:

“It’s a drama with comic moments. I’m very excited about it. I think it’s going to be the best thing I’ve ever done.” “It’s the story of a woman (Shepherd) who gets a diagnosis of a dire disease. Instead of sitting home and falling apart, she goes on a road trip in a wheelchair, taking buses and hitchhiking. She falls in love with a cowboy (Brolin).”

He added that, along the way, “Rose” (Shepherd) will enjoy “the beauty of New Mexico,” and meet some colorful characters, Filming will be done in Hillsboro, Truth Or Consequences and Engle, all an hour or two from El Paso.
