Have You Listened To Q2 Lately?
If you are a fan of classic rock from the 60's, 70's and 80's, you should know that Q2 has had a bit of a sonic makeover.
KLAQ is loaded with new rock along with the best songs from the 80's, 90's and '00's. There are a few classics mixed in here and there but for those of you who want more ... or nothing but ... classic rock in your earholes, we have Q2.
AOR, Album Oriented Rock, was the backbone of the rock radio format for decades and nowhere is it more celebrated than on Q2. KLAQ's digital counterpart keeps El Paso, and anywhere else in the world thanks to the internet, rockin' with the classics that motivated and inspired the modern rockers heard on The Q.
Without The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Queen and countless others, there would be no Black Keys, Asking Alexandria, Ghost, etc. (For example, Tobias from Ghost constantly touts the greatness of Uriah Heep and acknowledges the effect they had, and have, on his music. You won't hear them on KLAQ but you will on Q2.)
KLAQ covers the modern rock world world while Q2 devotes itself entirely to the fathers of rock. 24/7, you can hear the best of the 60's, 70's and 80's in a blend of hits and deep cuts put together in the tradition of a classic AOR radio station.
Deep cuts by the way is radio jargon for the songs that are just as strong as the hits but, for whatever reason, didn't make the "everyone knows it" list. For example, most rock fans know "Stairway To Heaven" and "Rock And Roll" by Led Zeppelin but only diehard "Led Heads" are familiar with "Bron-Y-Aur Stomp" or "Royal Orleans". Ditto for many other rock 'n roll pioneers and we'll play those songs for you all day and all night on Q2.
You will also hear from more contemporary acts, Judas Priest, Kiss, Queensryche, (the early, Geoff Tate era), and Aerosmith for example. "Modern" rockers with the longevity to be considered "classic" themselves
Monday - Saturday, from 3pm 'til 7pm, I'll be your host for not only the classic rock you seek but I'll add in the stories behind the songs, great memories ... theirs and mine ... as well as trivia and more. If you have a high def radio at home or in your car, you're all set ... just tune in and rock out. If you don't, no sweat ... you can listen right here.
