I don't completely hate Texas Governor Greg Abbott. I actually think he's done some really good things for the state of Texas. But he has really bumbled this COVID-19 response. There was a whole lot of people warning opening up too early was going to lead to a spike in numbers. Governor Abbott is in a tough situation though. He's a Republican and that is one of the most difficult things to be right now because President Trump is such a gigantic asshat who doesn't know what he's talking about and backtracks on what he says all the time.

No pun intended here, but it would be a lot better if Governor Abbott was able to stand up for what he believes and show some damn backbone. Again, no pun intended with that. Just complete honesty.

Now here we are, with the numbers continuing to rise in the state of Texas and Governor Abbott has said we might have to lock everything down again. Governor Abbott recently said:

Things will get worse, and let me explain why. The deaths that we’re seeing announced today and yesterday — which are now over 100 — those are people who likely contracted COVID-19 in late May.

He went on to talk about the mask requirement mandate:

The public needs to understand this was a very tough decision for me to make. I made clear that I made this tough decision for one reason: It was our last best effort to slow the spread of COVID-19. If we do not slow the spread of COVID-19 … the next step would have to be a lockdown.

There you have it. The next step would be a lockdown. What makes this even more irritating is that we probably can have a functioning economy WHILE still slowing the spread of COVID-19. The only problem is you have the anti-maskers and people who 'don't want their rights infringed upon' who go do whatever the Hell they want and spread COVID-19 faster than Herpes at a frat party.

Look, this isn't difficult. This is not a conspiracy to take away your rights. Just do these 3 simple things.

  1. Wear a mask in public.
  2. Practice social distancing.
  3. Wash your hands properly.

If everyone gets on board with that, we'll be back sooner rather than later.
