Food City store owners are saying thank you to their customers, employees, and vendors in the form of a fiesta, and all of El Paso is invited!

Food City officials shared the news of their Farewell Fiesta on Facebook telling followers to mark their calendars for Saturday, July 23rd.

Earlier this month, Food City owners announced that they would be closing down their store location in Fox Plaza. This news had many locals wondering why that location was closing, with some people even creating online petitions to have another location closed.

In a separate post, Food City owners shared that the decision to close their Fox Plaza location was not an easy one.

“Some people have speculated incorrectly about our motives and decisions. Managing local, independent grocery stores takes an all-consuming commitment to serve you properly. It was time to downsize our operations, so we can balance the demands of our business with our health and families. We have dealt with some serious health issues recently, and we want to be fully committed to our customers and employees.”

Store owners went on to say that they will be putting more of their efforts and focus on the other two Food City locations in El Paso.

“We love what we do, so we’re not going away, we’re just getting smaller.”

It’s A Celebration!

Food City's farewell fiesta is open to the public and will take place in the Food City parking lot at the Fox Plaza promenade.

Guests can enjoy free hot dogs, soda, and live music from Mariachi Frontera. The farewell fiesta begins at 10 a.m. and will go on until 3 p.m.

Customers can also enjoy in-store clearances and discounts!

Food City’s Fox Plaza location isn’t set to close its doors until the beginning of August so if you want to head out to Food City before they close their doors there’s still time!
