Urgent Call To Save Fall Mansion In El Paso
A beautiful and historic mansion in El Paso, is slowly rotting away and neighbors are concerned.
The home, known as the Fall Mansion is, (literally), FALL - ing apart and neighbors, some of whom are descendants of the homes namesake, want the city to step in and do something.
First, a little about Albert Fall himself. He was a circuit judge in New Mexico and became the states 1st senator. Considered an expert in US-Mexico relations, he was named Secretary of the Interior by POTUS Warren Harding. During the Teapot Dome scandal, he was convicted of taking a bribe. He's the only one convicted of anything.
Who Owns The Fall Mansion Now?
The city of El Paso bought the home and did over a million dollars worth of work to it. Texas Tech used it until 2021 but since then, it seems it's just been left to rot. Something Carl Meyers wants the public to be aware of saying that ... "their money is going to be wasted here".
The city of El Paso, meanwhile, is thinking it over.
"The facility is an older facility and we are looking at it in order to address concerns for our purposes because we don’t want it to go into further disrepair," Laura Cruz-Acosta - a spokesperson for the City - said. "It’s not condemned and it’s not completely run down at this point in time." - kfox
