The City of El Paso is coming up on the one year anniversary of the horrific events that took place at the Cielo Vista Walmart on August 3rd. We lost 23 El Pasoans because of the events on that day and our entire community was forever changed. After, we saw the community come together in a way like never before. People dropped off food and drinks at nearby parks where witnesses were being interviewed, others offered rides to those whose cars were stuck in the Walmart parking lot, and others ran out to the nearest blood bank to donate blood. Hours were spent in the sweltering Texas heat in long lines for the chance to help in any way possible, and the easiest was to give blood.

Now our community is once again facing a major crisis- this time its the coronavirus pandemic. Blood donations are critically low and our region needs your help and your blood. Vitalant, along with the El Paso Sports Commission and the County Coliseum are joining forces to host the El Paso Strong Memorial Blood Drive on the days before the one-year anniversary of the shooting.

The El Paso Strong Memorial Blood Drive will be held on Saturday, August, 1st, and Sunday, August 2nd from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the El Paso County Coliseum. The El Paso County Coliseum is located at 4100 Paisano Drive. If you would like to schedule an appointment for this blood drive, you can call Vitalant at (877) 258-4825 or online at their website. Find out more information about this event at the Vitalant Facebook page.

Blood donators can also get the COVID-19 antibody test done as well! It's an easy way to give back to our community and find out if you have ever gotten coronavirus and not known it.
