Enjoy A Tour Of El Paso’s 3D Balloon Murals By Artist Tino Ortega
Join local artist Tino Ortega for an afternoon tour of his 3D mylar balloon mural across El Paso.
This Thursday, June 30, 2022, you can discover the meaning behind some of El Paso's most famous murals created to unite our community.
Over the last couple of years, Tino Ortega has focused on creating 23 murals in honor of the twenty-three lives extraneously lost during the August 3 Walmart shootings.
Since the summer of 2020, Ortega has worked with local businesses to create eleven interactive 3D balloon murals across El Paso. The realistic and colorful balloon murals are so lifelike that some include real strings attached to the wall, giving the illusion that people are holding actual floating balloons when they take a photo.
El Pasoans will now have the opportunity to tour all eleven murals between downtown to central and west El Paso. The tour will begin with the original and most memorable mural depicting three Mylar balloons, one as a red heart and the other as silver letters, spelling out: I (Heart) EP.
Attendees down to take the free tour will need to make a reservation by emailing Visit El Paso at noachoa@destinationelpaso.com. The group will meet at Old Sheepdog Brewery across the street from Galeria Lincoln in Central El Paso beginning at 6 p.m.
Ortega tells me that his commitment to these murals has been made possible by local businesses who donate their wall space and the cost of materials without taking any monies for his services.
In his quest to reach number 23, Ortega plans to expand his reach across the city and hopes to branch out to East and Northeast El Paso soon.
Anyone who would like to reach out to Tino Ortega to offer wall space or assistance to reach his goal can contact him via Instagram or Facebook.
