When it comes to summer travel, some cities aren't exactly ideal and a recent list of the worst cities to visit in summer has El Paso, Texas in its top 20.

There are, for various reasons, some places you don't want to be in summer ... Death Valley for example. Not much to do and high temps sitting at 120 or better? Yeah, no. I'm good here where it's a more comfy 109.

I assumed that super high temps were the reason we made the cut here, especially after seeing cities like Phoenix, Tucson, Albuquerque, and Vegas listed too. Surprisingly though, high temperatures weren't even considered when creating this list of cities to avoid in the summer.

Forbes compiled the list based on things like crime rates, average hotel prices during summer, the number of flights delayed, canceled, or diverted during summer, and the number of fatal accidents during summer among other things.

All that stuff was added up on a scale that went from 0 to 100 with 100 being the worst. The only perfect 100 went to Jacksonville, Florida making it the worst city to be in during summer. The best city to visit was Minneapolis.

If It Wasn't The Heat, Why Did El Paso Make The Worst List?

El Paso was ranked as the 15th worst city for summer travel due to its limited number of parking lots and garages, averaging 0.46 per 100,000 residents. The city also has the second-fewest tourist attractions, with four or more stars on TripAdvisor. The study also mentioned that El Paso International Airport has the ninth-highest percentage of disrupted flights at 26.5 percent. - CHRON
