Great news for El Pasoans who enjoy riding the streetcar. The El Paso Streetcar will continue to offer free rides to commuters until the end of October. Sun Metro Director Jay Banasiak told the El Paso Times that the streetcar will continue to raise funds for the El Paso Strong Memorial,

“We are pleased to extend the El Paso Strong Ride to offer our riders the opportunity to continue to help create a legacy of love by contributing to the development of the El Paso Strong Memorial."

The El Paso streetcar offered free rides throughout the summer and then offered rides for donations to the El Paso Strong Ride campaign. The campaign was started after the August 3rd Walmart shooting in El Paso to raise funds for a permanent memorial.

People who would like to donate to the memorial can through the streetcar fare boxes and enjoy the free rides for the rest of the month. For more information on the campaign and the El Paso streetcar, please visit the EP Streetcar website, call (915) 212-3333 or visit the El Paso Streetcar Facebook Page.

The El Paso Streetcar operates Sunday through Wednesday from 11 a.m. to midnight and Thursday through Saturday 11 a.m. to 3 a.m.
