There are certain things that instantly tell you you’re in El Paso.

The smell of Chico’s Tacos in the air. Someone saying “ay ay” as you pass by. Dust storms showing up out of nowhere. And now, apparently, a giant piñata casually cruising through traffic on the back of a truck!

A hilarious Reddit post is kind of uniting El Pasoans and it somehow just makes perfect sense.

This Piñata Truck Moment Feels Very El Paso

The Reddit post titled “Someone just drove past with a piñata on their truck and it made my whole day #ElPasoLove” perfectly captured the kind of random Borderland moment locals immediately understand.

According to the post, the sighting happened near Hawkins and Viscount, and the comments were almost better than the photo itself!

ElPaso

One commenter quoted the classic Marty Robbins song with: “Out in the West Texas town of El Paso, I fell in love with a Mexican girl.”

Another simply wrote: “This is so El Paso messy. classic.”

I think that’s probably why the post took off. Not because anybody was shocked to see a piñata strapped to a truck, but because it felt completely believable! If you haven’t had a piñata sticking out the back of your truck, you’re the weird one!

Why El Pasoans Loved This So Much

And maybe that’s why this photo resonated with so many people online. It wasn’t making fun of El Paso.

It was celebrating the fact that this city has character!

Seeing a giant piñata rolling through town doesn’t feel strange here, it just feels like somebody’s about to have a really good party! The one question everyone had though, was: “where’s the party at?”
