As of Sunday morning, El Paso was at an all-time high when it comes to active COVID-19 cases. Sunday morning saw 684 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the total to 8,061 in El Paso County. We are also at an all-time high when it comes to hospitalizations. There are 449 total hospitalizations of patients with COVID-19 related illnesses, and 45 of those patients are on ventilators.

What numbers do we want high, but don't? How about the number of people wearing masks in public. This should be at 100%, but unfortunately it's not. I still don't understand why people are so adamant about not wearing a mask. Is it really that much a hinderance? If you have legitimate breathing issues and shouldn't be wearing a mask, don't you think you should rethink being out in public?

There are also a lot of people who make the claim that COVID-19 isn't that dangerous. The risk of death is incredibly low and is only an issue for older folks. Well, that's just not the case. As we have more and more people catching COVID-19, we are starting to see that this can have very serious long-term effects. From breathing issues to potential heart issue, it's not something that you just catch and move on from. There are definitely some issues people will be dealing with for a long time.

Let me wrap up with this, yet again. Please, wear a mask, wash your hands, and keep your distance. If you can't do these things, you might not want to be outside in public.
