The Humane Society of El Paso is looking for volunteers to attend their Nursery assistant training and help care for kittens in their neonatal unit. Kitten and puppy season is almost here, and the Humane Society of El Paso is preparing for another large influx of babies coming into the shelter. The shelter is in need of nursery assistant volunteers to help them care of neonatal kittens in their new 24-hour nursery. Volunteers will be trained to bottle feed neonatal kittens and assist staff with other tasks as necessary.

If you would like to volunteer as a nursery assistant at the Humane Society's nursery,

  • Volunteers must work one 3 hour shift per week. The shift can be any day or time but must be the same shift weekly. 
  • Volunteers must begin their shift within 30 days of their training. 
  • Volunteers that are 16 or 17 years old must be accompanied by a fully trained parent or guardian.
  • PLEASE NOTE: No community service credit will be given for volunteering in the kitten nursery.

If you are interested in volunteering as a nursery assistant at the Humane Society, there will be a training held this Saturday, April 13th from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 and Saturday, April 30th at the same time. Interested applicated must visit the Humane Society of El Paso website and fill out their volunteer application to be approved. After, the Nursery Assistant training is a $15 charge to cover the cost of your Nursery t-shirt.
