The holiday season has officially begun which can only mean one thing in El Paso, Texas, tamal season is upon us!

That's right, tamales will soon become the most sought after food in the Borderland. In the weeks leading up to Christmas El Pasoans begin the hunt to find tamales. The good thing is that in El Paso, we don't really have to worry about not finding any; there is an abundance of stores and tamal makers across the borderland that are ready to get you your fix.

This also means that soon, you'll start to see what looks like a shady drug deal going on in the parking lot of Walmart, but really, it's a tamal sale going down.

While El Paso stores will soon be overflowing with tamales, there's one store in particular where many are stocking up and freezing them to make sure they have some for Christmas; in fact, the store themselves are encouraging it!

Honestly, this is not a bad tip- considering we know that the lines can become hectic the closer we get to Christmas!

Tamales are a very serious business in El Paso. In my house, we don't make tamales until Christmas eve, I can already feel my hand cramp up at the thought of making tamales!
