El Paso's finest are now able to be heroes to pets as well as humans!

The El Paso Fire Department can now read the chips implanted in pets. If you find a lost pet in your 'hood, just take it to the area fire station and ... if it's chipped ... they'll locate the owner in a few seconds!!

EPFD is working with the El Paso Animal Services department in this endeavor and, if you find a pet in the area, you can also have it scanned at the Safety Health Outreach Center at 5415 Trowbridge.  According to the El Paso Herald-Post, this operation has been put into place because July seems to spark the highest number of lost or missing animals. This is mostly attributable to all the fireworks which are, once again, legal in El Paso this year.
