El Paso Couple Steals the Show at Steelers Game with Their Epic Sign
When talking about the biggest fan bases in El Paso, of course the Dallas Cowboys come to mind, but there's no denying that El Paso is also a hub for Pittsburgh Steelers fans too. While attending the Steelers/Chiefs game on Christmas, one lucky couple from El Paso got one of the coolest gifts you can get while attending a football game.
This El Paso couple went viral for their "honeymoon" sign
On the Steelers Nation Unite page, one of the most popular fan pages for Steelers content, they shared a photo of this happy couple and their sign showing quite the announcement to the world!
The El Paso newlyweds got to enjoy a Steelers home game while on their honeymoon. The post received hundreds of likes on both Facebook & Instagram, with many people congratulating the couple.
Who was the El Paso couple that went viral at the Steelers Christmas game?
The couple from the photo are Kevin & Rachel Espinoza. I was fortunate enough to speak to Kevin, who shared his love for both the Steelers & El Paso. They were both born & raised in El Paso and Rachel is currently enrolled in the UTEP College of Nursing Program and will graduate this summer. Kevin graduated from UTEP with a Master's degree in Accountancy.
When I asked whose idea it was to go to the game on Christmas, Kevin said that his wife bought the tickets to the Steelers game as a birthday present. The Steelers/Chiefs game was a perfect honeymoon since the game was played 5 days after their wedding day. Kevin being a Steelers fan & Rachel being a Chiefs fan, I'd say it worked out perfectly!
As they were walking on the bridge to Acrisure Stadium, they found a Texas shaped sticker with "El Paso" on it.
It may be small to read but it DOES say "El Paso" on it. You can even make out the Star on the Mountain. Perhaps it was another Steelers fan from El Paso who just wanted to represent the 915.
I asked Kevin, how did El Paso compare to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania & how did he feel going viral with telling the world they were from El Paso & celebrating their honeymoon:
"Pittsburgh is much colder right now and a nice weather change from El Paso. The people have been really nice, and just as welcoming as El Paso. It feels great we were hoping to go viral to represent El Paso." They certainly represented El Paso in a fantastic way.
Thank you Kevin & Rachel for representing El Paso to the Steelers Nation. Congratulations to the both of you!
