If happiness is dressing in costume and going house to house demanding homeowners fill your plastic Walmart bag with candy then you’re living in the right city.

According to SmartAsset, El Paso is one of the best Halloween towns in America. The financial website ranks us as the 6th Best Place to Trick-or-Treat in 2018.

The study looked at the 258 largest cities in the U.S. and made its final determination using some kind of voodoo science that considered several factors including number of residents under the age of 14, crime statistics, and weather.

If you can believe it, our weather, which is usually a selling point, was the only issue they seemed to have. The numbers cruncher felt our mild fall temperatures were too warm for a really great overall trick-or-treating experience.

6. El Paso, TX

Texas’ sole representative in the top 10 best cities to trick-or-treat is El Paso. This is an affordable city with low property crime rates and a low chance of rain. In each of those metrics, El Paso ranks in the top 40. While many residents in northern states may worry about cold temperatures on Halloween, in El Paso it is the heat you have to look out for. El Paso around Halloween has historically averaged about 70 degrees. Any hotter than that and you may find yourself sweating through your makeup and costume.

Oh, those silly northern states and their real winters. 'About 70' is perfect weather for candy begging. Now if you'll excuse me, I have bags of mini Reese's Cups and Kit Kat bars to buy -- and I don't mean so that I can hand them out on Halloween.

Don't judge.
