Back in the day, the arcade was THE place to be; hanging out after school with your friends, all trying to get the best high score possible. Nowadays, arcade bars aren't around as much anymore but there ARE places that satisfy the urge to play video games & enjoy a drink; Glitch Gaming Center & Funkmeyer's Rec Room come to mind. And of course you have Bob-O's Family Fun Center and Adventure Zone if you want just the arcade experience.

However El Paso does have one that's become a favorite to anyone who goes there: Rubik's on 4025 N Mesa.

Located right next to the Mad Hatter, Rubik's Arcade Bar has been one of the top places to go for nerds in El Paso; plenty of arcade machines & games to play while you can enjoy a drink too. They've hosted many trivia & karaoke events too. The place is a giant throwback to the 80s both inside & out.

For the longest time, however, Rubik's was only located on Mesa. For anyone who lives on the west side that's no problem. But I know that can be a LONG drive especially from the far east or northeast side. Thankfully that will change this year as they've been teasing a NEW location opening up on the east side on both Instagram & Facebook.

When I saw the posts, I HAD to reach out to them & ask when is it coming & where. So I asked them via Facebook & they responded very quickly saying:

  • "We don't have a concrete date, but looking to open in August. We are located at 9910 Montana Ave."

In other words, the 2nd location will be off of McRae & just up the street from The Rockhouse & Game Vault located in that area. If you're wondering where it is on the map, here's a Google Maps pinpoint.

As for the date, we still have to wait another month for the new location to open. BUT... at least now we can enjoy 2 Rubik's locations in town very soon.
