This one kind of crept up: Monday is Labor Day!

Here’s a handy rundown of fun things to do and places to be seen this weekend.

First off, the weather looks great. The forecast has no rain, sunny skies, and cool nights through Monday, Labor Day.

Start the LDW off right by seeing a free rock show at Speaking Rock Entertainment Center. Aaron Lewis got his band back together and STAIND is doing this 21-and-older, outdoor show THIS Friday! Did I mention that it’s FREE??

The UTEP Miners have their first home game of the football season on Saturday at the Sun Bowl.

Coming off a discouraging loss to Jacksonville State, the Miners need a strong showing against Incarnate Word of the F.C.S. in order to win back fans after the embarrassing loss to Jacksonville State on Saturday (yes, these are both COLLEGE football teams).

The Hatch Green Chile Festival is happening this Saturday thru Monday just up the road a piece. Celebrate the deliciousness of fresh green peppers in THE Chile Capitol of the World. That’s funny…I would’ve guessed Chile was the Chile Capitol of the World.

Las Cruces, also up the road but not as far, is having its Harvest Wine Festival Saturday through Monday. Sample (or chug) over 200 wines from New Mexico’s finest and winest wineries.

There’s other stuff to do, too. Bring a designated driver.

St. Anthony’s Bazaar is on for the 60th consecutive year. It’s Saturday, Sunday, and Monday at Hastings Drive and it’s free to attend. Who knows? Maybe it even counts as “going to church” for the week.

Finally, a huge music festival is debuting at Ascarate Park. It’s The Brightside Music Festival this Saturday and Sunday.

Performers include Steve Aoki, Young the Giant and Metro Boomin are among the artists that are scheduled to perform.

This one isn’t free, though. Single-day tickets START at $129 and go up from there. Also, the tickets say “rain or shine” and “NON-REFUNDABLE”.

But, as stated before, the weather should co-operate so go nuts.
