Dallas Cowboys Get Healthy During Bye Week

All bye weeks for team brings perspective into consideration about that particular team. No NFL team this year has had the trend of peak and valley as the 2019 Dallas Cowboys. Win the first three games, lose the next three games and now win the last game before the bye. The last game is the most telling I would suggest.

The Dallas Cowboys win against the Philadelphia Eagles gave them the advantage in their division, the NFC East, and provided a boost of confidence to compete against a recent Super Bowl caliber winning team. Not only did Dallas win, they won like their first three victories, convincingly. The Dallas defense caused three fumbles and picked off Carson Wentz once and if Sean Lee would have held on to the ball, it would have been twice. This type of play from the defense can certainly take this team to and through the playoffs.

The bye week also gives linebacker Leighton Vander Esch time to heal (although it had been reported that he was ready and sought to return into the game) and wide receiver Amari Cooper and offensive tackles Tyron Smith and La’el Collins time to rest. It is stated almost all the time, injuries occur during a football season, however, managing these possible injuries is almost also the way to continue to win during a long NFL season. Linebacker Sean Lee is healthy, safety Jeff Heath is intact and defensive back Byron Jones not hampered by leg injuries and is moving well. This sets the Cowboys up for a competitive winning opportunity starting next week against the New York Giants, another NFC East division opponent. And I’m sure the game in New England versus the Patriots is a much watch!

The biggest opponent the Dallas Cowboys have faced in their first seven games at times was themselves. As they eliminated mistakes such as fumbles and interceptions and created turnovers, the team was successful and has more than enough offense to put up the requisite amount of points to win. In the meantime, head coach Jason Garrett has only concern himself with how many wins it will take to get to Miami instead of taking time off from coaching and ordering up a Moons Over My Hammy at Denny’s! I digress as I humor myself as fans believe that a NFL head coaching position is an easy task. And I can keep it light during a bye week when it comes to my former college teammate who I know hates to lose more than he enjoys to win.
