There really is no reasonable explanation for the Cowboys to not win the NFC East this past season. The Eagles were completely decimated with injuries and the Cowboys have loads of talent. But somehow, they managed to keep themselves out of the playoffs.

Stephen Jones, Dallas' vice president and son of owner Jerry Jones, says that Dak's contract is the team's number one priority this off season.

"It’s been urgent for us," Jones said per Dallas Morning News reporter Michael Gehlken. "We certainly want to get that done. That’s our No. 1 priority as we go into the offseason."

At the beginning of this season the Cowboys made Ezekiel Elliott the top paid running back in the league. It stands to reason Dak will to get one of the largest contracts for a quarterback, if not thee largest.

Dak was pretty damn good last season. Here are his stats with his league rank.

  • 4,902 passing yards (2nd)
  • 30 touchdown passes (4th)
  • 70.2 QBR (4th)
  • 99.7 rating (10th)

Definitely worthy of a nice contract, but highest paid ever? Guess we'll see.
