Texans vs. Cowboys: Which Stadium is More Affordable?

Whether it's rooting for the Houston Texans or the  Dallas Cowboys, we Texans LOVE watching football. However, one thing is for certain when you go to a football game, it can be VERY expensive. Speaking from personal experience after going to Allegiant Stadium, the home of the Las Vegas Raiders, you REALLY need to take a lot of cash with you getting merch or even just a drink.

But how expensive is it to watch a Cowboys game? Or a Texans game? Well, it turns out one team has a stadium with prices that are quite affordable for taking your family to watch a game. While the other is...not AS affordable.

Which Texas NFL team has the better prices at their home stadium?

The answer? The Houston Texans.

According to a study done by Action Network, they revealed that NRG Stadium was ranked #15 in their list of the "16 Cheapest Stadiums" for families to go see a football game.

When factoring in the prices for a family of four, the prices for Houston Texans games cost just under $470. When you add the costs of two beers at $12, 2 soft drinks at $12, 4 hot dogs at $22 plus the parking which costs roughly $31, the total is about $547. Oh and don't forget that children under the age of 2 can attend games for free.

When going to see a Dallas Cowboys game, the prices will be a little steeper.

The same study ranked AT&T Stadium, the home of the Cowboys, #14 on their "16 Most Expensive Stadiums". Using the same factoring for a family of four, the tickets for a Cowboys game are actually cheaper. They go for about $466.76.

HOWEVER...when you factor in everything else (the beer, the drinks, the food, the parking), THAT's where things get more expensive. In total, it'll cost about $580.60 for 4 game-day tickets.

Fun fact: the most affordable NFL stadium is the home of the Arizona Cardinals.

Yes, State Farm Stadium ranked the #1 "Cheapest Stadium" according to that Action Network study. The total cost when factoring in the ticket prices for 4, the drinks, the food, the parking... it all comes to a total of $452.

So if you're planning that future vacation to watch your team play in Texas, budget accordingly so you're not breaking the bank. Keep some spare change on hand too.
