President Trump has said that he's not going to sign the COVID-19 relief bill. Good. Yeah, I'm saying it. This is a good move by Trump. Of course, there are those who hate Trump to the point that they don't care what is actually happening. Unfortunately that sad truth goes both ways. The other side can do no right, and their side can do no wrong.

This is a good move by Trump for a few different reasons.

  1. Trump believes the amount per person should be $2000, not $600.
    1. By the way, it was the Republicans who pushed back against more money when the bill was being negotiated.
  2. Congress has been able to find money to send to foreign countries, but the bare minimum for us here in the United States.
  3. There is a portion of the bill that deals with illegal streaming with a possibility of 10 years in prison.

How do the other top political officials feel about Trump not signing the bill? Well, Democrat and Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi thinks Trump is making the right call, saying:

Republicans repeatedly refused to say what amount the President wanted for direct checks. At last, the President has agreed to $2,000 -- Democrats are ready to bring this to the Floor this week by unanimous consent. Let’s do it!

But what about Democrat and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer? He thinks Trump should just sign it, saying:

We spent months trying to secure $2000 checks but Republicans blocked it. Trump needs to sign the bill to help people and keep the government open and we're glad to pass more aid Americans need.

This whole situation has seemed to cause a bit of a stir in Washington. People who are normally die hard Trumpers, like Lindsey Graham, are against what the President is doing. Oh, and in case you were wondering. The bill is well over 5,000 pages long and they were given just a few hours to go over it before voting on it. Yeah. Democracy at work folks.
