During the pandemic, El Pasoans have been enjoying drive-in movies at the El Paso County Coliseum thanks to Carpool Cinema. People can enjoy a movie on the big screen from the comfort of their own car and you don't have to sit close to people you don't know. Plus, you can bring your own snacks. That's a big plus for me.

Carpool Cinema teamed up this week with the Young Black Leaders of El Paso to feature movies in honor of Black History Month. This Saturday, February 27th Carpool Cinema will be showing "Us," directed by Jordan Peele, and "The Hate You Give," directed by George Tillman Jr. "The Hate You Give" will be shown at 7 pm, and "Us" will be shown at 10 pm. Tickets are $25 per vehicle and $30 for VIP parking. You can purchase your tickets now through the Universe website. The El Paso County Coliseum is located at 4100 Paisano Drive in El Paso. For more information, please visit the El Paso Young Black Leaders Instagram page or website.

"Us" is a horror film directed by award-winning filmmaker Jordan Peele. The film follows an African-American family who is being stalked by a group of menacing doppelgangers. The movie was a critical and commercial success, and has a 93% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

"The Hate You Give" is based on the 2017 young adult novel of the same name. It follows a 16-year-old girl whose life is turned upside down after her childhood friend is killed by a police officer in front of her eyes. The movie was a box office bomb but a critical success, winning several awards and receiving a 97% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
