Capitol police are opening a special field office in Texas to counter a huge increase in threats against Congress members.

US Capitol Police say that threats against members of Congress are up 500% over the last 7 years.

In an effort to counter/manage those threats, Capitol police plan to set up shop in several cities across the United States, including one in Texas.

No location has been set for the Texas office but, I would assume, Austin would be the most logical since it's fairly central and home to the state capitol.

The new field offices will not be the first of their kind.

2 were opened, in Florida and California, in 2021 following the attack on the capitol in Washington DC.

Capitol Police Chief J. Thomas Manger said:

Due to the increased threat environment, our protective responsibilities have increased, requiring additional protection details, increased coverage of CODELs [official travel by members of Congress] and field hearings, as well as other enhancements to our current protective details - texastribune

Recently, a senate staffer was stabbed near the Capitol building in Washington DC and U.S. Rep. Angie Craig was assaulted in the elevator of her apartment building.

There's no need to wonder why so many people are angry at our so called "leaders". Just look at the mess(es) we're in and the political posturing and overall ineptness that either got us into them in the first place or keep us mired down in them.

The best thing we can do is pay attention to what's really going on and who's really doing what.

Vote out the idiots and vote in those who truly want to make things better for all, not just themselves, certain groups and/or their (biggest) financial backers.
