If somebody pitched a TV show about Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson hanging out on a Texas ranch while acting like unhinged brothers, you’d probably assume it already existed.

Somehow, it didn’t. Until now!

The longtime friends- and dare I say, unofficial royalty of Texas- are finally teaming up again for a new Texas-set comedy series called Brothers, and it already sounds like one of the most Texas shows ever made.

What Is McConaughey And Woody’s New Show About?

The new Apple TV+ comedy stars McConaughey and Harrelson as fictionalized versions of themselves, which already feels like the perfect move.

According to Harrelson, the show begins with him arriving in Texas in his bus to spend time with McConaughey on his ranch. Once the bus gets inside the ranch gates, though, it’s apparently not leaving.

That setup becomes the premise for the first eight episodes.

The series filmed in Austin last year and is loosely inspired by the pair’s real-life friendship, which has lasted nearly 30 years. The duo first met in the late ‘90s and have shared the screen several times since, including in True Detective.

And yes, the show will reportedly lean into the long-running rumor that the two might actually be related in real life!

McConaughey And Woody Are Basically Texas Royalty

Somehow, these two don’t even feel like regular celebrities anymore.

McConaughey has become one of the most recognizable Texas personalities on the planet. Between the Lincoln commercials, the football appearances, the unmistakable voice, and the nonstop Texas pride, he’s basically become a walking Texas stereotype in the best possible way.

Then there’s Harrelson, who somehow matches McConaughey’s energy perfectly.

Together, they have this chaotic, weirdly wholesome friendship that people genuinely love watching. So the fact they turned that dynamic into a Texas ranch comedy feels inevitable.

No wonder these two are leading the way for more major filming projects in Texas.

Texans Are Probably Going To Love This Show

Brothers is expected to premiere this fall on Apple TV+, and even without a trailer yet, it already feels like something Texans are going to fully embrace.

At minimum, it sounds entertaining.

At maximum, it could become the next great “guys sitting around talking about life in Texas” series people become obsessed with.

Either way, if McConaughey and Woody Harrelson are involved, you already know the vibes are going to be immaculate.
