Blue Bell Gives Texans a New Way to Eat Protein
If you’ve caught yourself asking “How much protein is in that?” before eating literally anything this year, you’re not alone. Protein is EVEYWHERE! They’re in cereals, pasta, waffles and now Blue Bell is entering the chat.
The Texas ice cream staple just teased a new lineup of protein-packed pints called Blue Bell PRO, and it’s clearly aimed at people who still want dessert but also want to feel like they’re making better choices. I think the main question here is: does it have cottage cheese?!
What is Blue Bell Pro?
At this point, protein isn’t just a fitness thing, it’s a lifestyle! People are adding it to coffee, baking it into bagels, and checking labels like it’s a sport. If you’ve ever heard someone say “I need more protein today,” you know exactly who this ice cream is for.

Blue Bell PRO is being marketed as “more than just protein,” with pints that are low fat, gluten free and with zero added sugars. They'll come in vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, coffee and salted caramel.
Basically, it’s for Texans who want to keep their sweet tooth and their health goals intact. No word yet on when they'll actually release it though.
How Much Protein Are We Talking About?
Each Blue Bell PRO pint is expected to pack 33 to 35 grams of protein, depending on the flavor, which is more than double the protein found in Blue Bell’s original Homemade Vanilla.
For comparison, that classic pint has about 16 grams of protein, which suddenly feels very low, right?

Protein used to live in shaker bottles and gym bags. Now it’s in cereal, chips, water, and apparently, ice cream. A lot of this shift comes from people trying to feel fuller longer, support workouts, or just eat more intentionally. Health experts have also been nudging adults to prioritize protein at every meal, with newer guidance suggesting higher daily intake than in the past.
When you mix that with influencer culture, food trends, and weight-loss conversations, it’s no surprise brands are racing to keep up, even ones as iconic as Blue Bell.
But if you’re going to eat ice cream, it might as well count for something!
