A Texas-Based Bakery Just Beat Every Other Chain in America
I love supporting local whenever I can. Whether it’s a small business, a neighborhood spot, or anything with strong Texas roots; it just feels better knowing your dollars are staying close to home. And apparently, even when I’m grabbing a cake from a big-name bakery here in El Paso, I’m still supporting local- at least on a Texas-sized scale.
That’s because a Texas-based bakery chain has officially been named America’s No. 1 restaurant chain, and yes, it’s headquartered right here in the Lone Star State!
Texas Takes the Top Spot Yet Again
According to a new survey conducted by Technomic and Nation’s Restaurant News, Nothing Bundt Cakes, now based in Dallas, was ranked the top restaurant chain in the entire United States. Not only did it take the No. 1 spot overall, but it also earned top honors in categories like service and hospitality, food and beverage, unit appearance, ambiance, convenience, and takeout.
We all certainly have a sweet tooth because this marks the second year in a row the bakery chain has claimed the top position.
Why America Loves This Texas Bakery
Industry experts say part of Nothing Bundt Cakes’ success comes from its simplicity. The brand focuses on doing one thing really well- cake- while offering a signature design that’s instantly recognizable.
Single-serving cakes, easy grab-and-go options, and treats meant for everyday moments (not just birthdays) have also helped boost customer visits. As Technomic’s director of consumer and industry insights Robert Byrne put it:
They get to do this one thing and it’s cake, and they’re going to delight you.
Texas Was the Only State in the Top 10
Out of all the restaurant chains ranked in the survey’s Top 10, Nothing Bundt Cakes was the only Texas-based business to make the list. Other national brands rounding out the rankings included coffee chains, steakhouses, and sandwich spots, but Texas still walked away with the top honor.
So even if you’re grabbing a Bundt cake here in El Paso, it still counts as supporting a Texas-grown success story. And knowing that a home-state brand beat out hundreds of national chains across the country? That just makes dessert taste a little sweeter.
