Are These Really The Best Schools In El Paso?
El Paso school districts recently graded themselves. According to them, minus the biggest one, here are the best schools in El Paso.
I'm already skeptical because of the fact that the school districts in El Paso all graded themselves. There's something weird about the entity judged "best" also being the entity that did the judging. (I know every test I ever took ... that I also graded ... got an A+.)
The TEA has been forbidden to release data detailing which schools scored highest all over Texas because of a legal dispute initiated by the schools.
This year, many Texas school districts are calculating their own scores using TEA data as the agency faces a lawsuit prohibiting it from releasing the 2023-2024 accountability ratings. The districts have the capacity and the authorization from the TEA to calculate and self-report their own grades, YISD officials explained Monday. - KVIA
What's the point of having an organization oversee something if those it oversees can stop them from doing so? EPISD data wasn't released at all but the overall rankings for EPISD, YISD and SISD were announced.
The district overall scores were YISD - 86, SISD - 83, EPISD - 77. Here are the "A" schools from the 2 local districts who did release individual school results:
YISD
- Alicia R. Chacon IS
- Eastwood Heights ES
- Eastwood Knolls IS
- Glen Cove ES
- Loma Terrace ES
SISD
- Mission Early College High School
- Options High School
- Spec. Rafael Hernando III Middle
