According to the folks at MSN.com, the burrito bragging rights in Texas do not go to El Paso.

Not only is the "best" burrito in Texas not made in El Paso, it's not even made by a stand alone restaurant. It's part of a statewide chain with locations in Austin, San Antonio and Houston.

The Cabo Bob's in Austin got the nod in this MSN article but, I assume, the other locations make the same burrito in the same fashion. Actually, the customers really make the burrito, kind of like Chipotle.

According to MSN, each burrito starts with:

... a choice of flavored tortillas including the popular smoky Cheddar – prepared fresh with unbleached wheat flour, grated smoked Cheddar, and barbecue sauce. Filling options include shredded pork, crispy fish, sautéed poblano peppers, and sautéed zucchini. The smoky, tender brisket is many people’s go-to.

I've never tried this place so I won't slam them but I find it hard to believe their burritos are better than the ones we have here in El Chuco. The worst burrito in El Paso is still pretty damn good.

It's almost impossible to pick a favorite but, here are 3 places I like to go to.

A place in Albuquerque took the New Mexico honors but, I really doubt that joint could beat the burritos at Chope's. I will make the drive to La Mesa JUST to get one of those burritos.

They're amazing.
