The other night of Loudwire radio, lead singer of All That Remains, Phil LaBonte, talked about him and other bands from Massachusetts and how he fondly nicknamed them all Massholes. When listing some other bands from the area, I found myself making a list in my head of my favorite bands from the Bay State. So here's my pick of the best Massholes out there!

  • All That Remains

I had to put them into the list of course! Not only for making me think about this but also for their amazing song writing skills and the way they are able to put their political and personal views into a song. The song "Stand Up" is a perfect example of this, from the lyrics: "We’ve worked, so hard Pushed every day now See the blood sweat and tears on our face We’ve never been stronger There’s no holding back now So you can hear us say Stand up" All That Remains is definitely a band of strong Massholes, and one strong Massholette.

  • Godsmack

From Lawrence, Massachusetts, Godsmack has had 3 consecutive number 1 albums, 20 songs in the Top 10 with 15 in the Top 5, and have sold 20 million records in a little over a decade. Umm, do they need anymore reasons to be some bad ass Massholes? didn't think so.

  • Unearth

This band is not only metal as hell, they also come from Winthrop, Massachusetts. The name for the band came from drummer Mike Rudberg when he said he wanted the band to "unearth" a new sound in the metalcore world. They have released five full length albums and their newest disc, "Darkness In The Light" has the best vocals that lead singer Trevor Phipps has put done ever. Just listen to the song "Watch It Burn" and not fall in love with this band within 30 seconds. Not to mention the video shows the bands strong beliefs. Another angry, fabulous Masshole band that will actually be coming this Tuesday to Tricky Falls! A show not to miss.

  • White Zombie

You can't talk about Massachusetts rockers without putting in there White Zombie and the iconic Rob Zombie as well. Since he founded the band with his then girlfriend Sean Yseult I figured he would only count for one entry. The band has had such a huge influence on current artists and even made the 56th spot on VH1's Greatest Artists of Hard Rock. After the band Rob went on his own to have a successful solo career, along with other projects like his horror films which are to scary for me to watch.

  • The Acacia Strain

Angry angry death metal Massholes right here! When they came for Warped Tour, this lucky girl got to be onstage while they performed. I knew I loved them for more then their music when the lead singer Vincent Bennett proclaimed himself and the band as "angry as ****" and that they :hated the world." I knew we would get along beautifully. The band is hard, rough, and gives you a blistering live show wherever they go. The pit at their shows is probably one of the most terrifying if your in the right city. Another band coming to Tricky Falls soon that you should go and see live!
