A man from Alamogordo stole, or the fancy word is embezzled, from a charity/ foundation that he worked for as an executive and then proceeded to rob.

According to the Associated Press and our news partners at KVIA, "An Alamogordo accountant faces 24 years in prison for embezzling approximately $1.8 million from a foundation that provided scholarships to high school graduates and for tax fraud."

They go on to say about sentencing that, "A state District Court judge on Thursday sentenced 68-year-old Marion Ledford after he pleaded no contest to one count of embezzlement and three of tax fraud."

"The 12th Judicial District Attorney’s Office said Ledford will serve the bulk of his state sentence after he completes a concurrent 18-month sentence he received in February after previously pleading guilty to tax evasion in a related federal case. Ledford formerly was CFO of the Robert W. Hamilton Foundation  in Alamogordo."

Robert W Hamilton Foundation is a private foundation in Alamogordo, NM, which was founded in 1999. Apparently, they provide, "Scholarship awards to high school graduates of Otero County, New Mexico, U.S. Citizens and residents of New Mexico."

I know I am no angel, but stealing from a charity that gives out scholarships is just about one of the skeeziest, jankiest, most f-d up things a person can do.
