Aaron Jones has put El Paso back in the spotlight, the national sports spotlight as he ran for 4 touchdowns against the Dallas Cowboys. That’s not strong, that’s El Paso Strong. The former Burges Mustang and UTEP Miner completely stole the show as he provided the offense and scoring for the Green Bay Packers throughout the game. I got a chance to “dap” him up in the locker room after the game as it was difficult to hide the fact that I am also from El Paso!

In a game where the primary weapon was sidelined, Devante Adams and Aaron Rodgers was supposed to now assume the majority role of figuring out how to score points against a savvy Dallas defense, the points came easy thanks to Aaron Jones. During his record-setting rushing day, Jones amassed 107 yards rushing with 4 touchdowns and 7 receptions. No one, no one, not the Dallas defense, Green Bay Packers, the fans…most likely only Aaron Jones.

The Cowboys offense was creating offense at home at AT&T stadium however the turnover “bug” has been biting the Dallas offense the last two weeks! No matter how the turnovers occur, they still count as turnovers. Fumbles are the “cardinal sin” in football and interceptions are usually caused by a lack of focus and tipped passes resulting in interceptions usually result from a lack of concentration. Only the players wearing the star on their helmets can truly tell why and what is happening when breakdowns occur over the last two weeks.

Hopefully the kicking game improves as well for the Dallas Cowboys. Again, I see another alum headed for scrutiny as Brett Maher (Nebraska) has been inconsistent which has created media/social media criticism on head coach Jason Garrett (Princeton). How both of my colleges and universities has one of my teams being questioned is beyond me.

Thank you NFL for the schedule as the Cowboys go on the road and look to bounce back in the win column as they take on the New York Jets. Win the turnover battle and line of scrimmage and victory should soon follow. Look for Dallas to be 4-2 after this weekend.
