Salvador Dali was a Spanish Surrealist painter whose iconic style and eccentric personality made him one of the most influential surrealist artists of the 20th century; he is best known for his most famous painting, The Persistence of Memory (1931), depicting limp melting watches.

Even after his death, his works of art are worth millions, and the fascination over the famed artist continues today. Interestingly, an original Salvador Dali illustration was shipped via UPS out of El Paso in 2021.

And soon, fans of Dali will be able to get up close with his artwork in a new exhibit titled: An Homage To Dante: Salvador Dali's Illustrations for The Divine Comedy, opening at the Museum of Art this month.

Throughout his wild and prolific career, Salvador Dalí illustrated more than 100 books, including one of the most celebrated, Dante Alighieri's The Divine Comedy. In Homage to Dante, Dali captures Dante's narrative of his journey through Hell (Inferno), Purgatory, and Paradise.

A second exhibit will include the works of another incredible artist, El Paso's very own Ho Baron, featuring Gods for Future Religions.

The exhibition will showcase Baron's career, who, for more than fifty years, has created surreal narratives in bronze and cast stone sculptures, pen and ink drawings, photographs, and assemblages.
