A Funny Ad for an App That Helps Overcome Porn Addiction
This morning we talked about the Indiana man who is suing his parents for $86,000 because they destroyed his porn collection. It sounds like this guy could use this app but, uh-oh, it wouldn’t work because apparently this guy likes to watch his X-rated stuff the old-fashioned way: on video tapes and DVD which “filled up 12 large shipping boxes”.
The following is an ad for an app called Covenant Eyes that claims to help with porn addiction by “breaking the shame-cycle” that they say is the root of this kind of addiction.
Basically , the way it works is you put the app on all your computers and devices. You also have a designated friend. Whenever you view porn it sends a report to your friend who I guess is kind of like a sober coach except for porn. I suppose you have to get a friend who you A.) trust and B.) you care about their opinion. Also, it doesn’t say so but I’m going to HEAVILY assume you need to let the person know ahead of time that they’re going to be your anti-porn buddy because just imagine someone not expecting it and then suddenly getting regular updates on the smut you’ve been watching.
Oh, also, the ad for the Covenant Eyes app is a spoof of a super-hero. It notes that each super-hero has a weakness: Cat Man has cat-like reflexes but his weakness is laser pointers. “Colossal Man” is super-strong but HIS weakness is…on-line porn.
